Here it is folks, the listing for a digital pattern to make a full scale palamute prop or plushy.
About the pattern: This pattern to make a palamute is essentially an unedited scan of a pattern that I created off of the original palamute that I carved. I would characterize this pattern as very difficult. The palamute is life size, so it requires a lot of material, time, and patience to construct. To make things easier, I tried to make as few pieces as possible. This is probably not the best pattern for beginners. The pattern can be used to make a palamute out of foam. There is a mistake on the piece labeled "Hand 2" that requires you to cut it apart along the yellow line illustrated in the image file included in the digital download.
How to use the pattern: The first thing to do with the files is to print them all out with exactly the same printer settings using US letter or A4 size. With settings on "fit to page" you will get a slight size reduction (maybe 5%). With settings set to "fill page" you should get the exact size, but I highly recommend printing one page once with each setting to see how they differ and to make sure nothing is being cut off when using "fill page" setting. The full set is a whopping 60 pages long. each page is labeled as head, leg, arm, torso, or tail. The hash marks can be used to register each page. I recommend putting full pages back together and taping them before cutting the patterns out.
Once your patterns are all cut out, you can now trace them on to foam. Every pattern you have is from the left side of the palamute, so you will need to flip it over to make it a right side pattern. I recommend 6mm-8mm foam. 6mm gives some rigidity without making the more tight pieces really difficult to make.
How to finish: If you are working in foam, you might finish your palico by just sealing and painting it. You could also fur it using the same patterns. It can be stuffed with a soft material, or if it is well bound it can be filled with expanding foam.
