Here it is folks, the listing for a digital pattern to make a full scale palico prop or plushy. This is a challenging pattern to construct, so please be patient and ask questions if you get stuck. DM on here, or find me on Instagram and X @craftlocust.
About the pattern: This pattern to make a palico is essentially an unedited scan of a pattern that I created off of the original palico that I carved. I would characterize this pattern as fairly difficult. To make things easier, I tried to make as few pieces as possible. This is probably not the best pattern for beginners. The pattern can be used to make a palico out of foam.
How to use the pattern: The demos in the photos are made out of paper (white) and 4mm foam (black). The first thing to do with the files is to print them all out with exactly the same printer settings using US letter or A4 size. Then, you will want to put all the patterns back together using the registration marks on the pages (see photo). Use the registration marks and grid lines to put the patterns together. With exception to the tail, all other pattern parts will need to be doubled for right and left. If using craft foam, I recommend 4mm-8mm foam. Thinner than 4mm and there won't be much to glue. The thicker the foam, the more rigid the thing will be and also give you the opportunity to carve into the assembled form. The feet and hands are particularly difficult, and it might make sense to use a thinner foam and then foam clay on top of those parts. The ear is probably the single most difficult part because the interior is concave and wraps around a little peninsula coming off of the forehead.
How to finish: If you are working in foam, you might finish your palico by just sealing and painting it. You could also fur it using the same pattern. For the really ambitious, you could cover the thing with foam clay or epoxy putty to give it more definition. It can be stuffed with a soft material, or if it is well bound it can be filled with expanding foam.
